Catch of the day draws eager buyers

As crab season hots up in South Korea, seafood auctions become a common sight in many fish markets around the country.

This one in the south-eastern port of Pohang yesterday featured a bounty of queen crabs.

Crab season lasts from November to April, but many people believe that those caught between January and March taste the best.

Various crab festivals, large and small, also spring up around the country during this period.
