Beauty show's mane event

Mr Leo Lee from Malaysia had a bright idea as he took part in the Trend Upstyle segment of the Singapore Hairdressing Awards 2017 yesterday.

The competition, held at the Suntec Singapore Convention and Exhibition Centre, saw 42 contestants taking part in various categories. This is the second year the event has been organised by the Hair & Cosmetology Association (Singapore).

Besides the five contestants from Singapore, other participants in the competition came from places such as China, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Myanmar.

The winner of the Trend Upstyle segment was Ms Tan Kah Mun from Malaysia, who won $800 cash and a trip to Japan.

Singapore students from the Institute of Technical Education were at the competition to learn from the experts at work.

The event is part of BeautyAsia, an annual trade show for the beauty, spa and health industry.

The three-day trade show, now in its 21st year, ends today.
