The World Press Photo (WPP) organisation on Thursday released this photograph by Mexican photographer Anuar Patjane Floriuk, which won second prize in the Nature category (single-picture segment) at the 59th annual World Press Photo Contest.

The prize was announced by the WPP Foundation in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

In the image, divers - who appear tiny by comparison - can be seen observing a humpback whale and its newborn calf while swimming around Roca Partida in the Revillagigedo Islands, Mexico, on Jan 28 last year.

You can view 145 photos that won coveted awards at last year's WPP contest at the World Press Photo 2015 exhibition, which will be running till 7pm tomorrow at the National Museum of Singapore.

On display will be works by photographers ranging from Ger- many's Christian Ziegler to Singa- pore's Sim Chi Yin.
