Adding splash of colour

Runners welcomed back the Kyiv Colour Run with open arms, as the annual event returned to Kiev, Ukraine, for the fifth time yesterday.

As is traditional, every participant was given a white T-shirt and a bag of coloured powder at the start of this summertime fun run.

They could choose either a 3km or 6km trail. But the most important thing was to fling the powder around so that all runners were covered in candy hues when they crossed the finish line.

The first Colour Run took place in the United States in 2012.

From then, it has grown into an international phenomenon that has attracted six million participants in more than 35 countries, according to the official website.
