A field day for dressing up

Qipao fans have quite the fashion runway amid the beautiful canola flowers in full bloom at the ancient picturesque village of Lishantou, in China's Longquan city.

Some 500 women dressed in their best qipao joined the procession that has become quite a draw over the years wherever it is held in China.

Hailing from different parts of the eastern Chinese province of Zhejiang, they were there on Wednesday to help showcase the charm of the dresses as part of a cultural festival.

The festival, held annually to promote Longquan city's scenic spots, agriculture and folk culture, has helped to push up tourism numbers in the area, reported the Xinhua news agency.
