Features of the bomb

• The bomb could be a Type 94 or Type 1 bomb that was dropped by the Japanese.

• It contains 47kg of explosives, or picric acid, which is an explosive substance more powerful than TNT.

A fuse located on the bomb’s nose primes it for exploding when it hits the ground.

In contrast, a timed fuse, which can be located at the back of the bomb, explodes after a delay.

The fins help to stabilise the bomb so that it can land accurately.
