Thirty-one primary schools will be holding a ballot during the second phase of the Primary 1 registration exercise in 2026, according to figures released by the Ministry of Education (MOE) at the end of Phase 2A.
The most oversubscribed school is Red Swastika School in Bedok, where 88 children are vying for 24 places. This is followed by Princess Elizabeth Primary School in Bukit Batok, with 137 children applying for 47 spots, and Shuqun Primary School in Jurong West, with 93 applying for 32 spots.
These three schools will be conducting balloting for Singapore citizen children residing within 1km of the school.
MOE said that 143 schools, or 80.3 per cent of schools with vacancies for Phase 2A, will not hold a ballot. These schools have enough spaces to admit all Phase 2A applicants. There are 179 schools open for registration for this year’s exercise.
The results for all schools undergoing the ballot will be out on July 17.
At this registration stage in 2025, 38 primary schools went through a ballot. The top three most oversubscribed schools then were Gongshang Primary School in Tampines, South View Primary School in Choa Chu Kang and Princess Elizabeth Primary School.
Registration for Phase 2B starts on July 20 at 9am and ends the next day at 4.30pm; results will be out on July 27.
