Singapore Fashion Week (SFW) organisers today revealed that British designer Victoria Beckham and Thai-American designer Thakoon Panichgul will be part of its starry fashion show line-up this year, in a press conference announcing further details of the May 13 to 17 event.
The two international fashion stars join Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) president Diane von Furstenberg, whose opening show at SFW 2015 was first announced last month. All three will be presenting their fall/winter 2015 lines.
Beckham launched her fashion career in 2008. The streamlined and chic designs of her eponymous brand swayed critics, and the label won Brand of the Year at the British Fashion Awards last year. Panichgul, a recipient of the 2006 Vogue/CFDA Fashion Fund Award, started his brand in 2004.
Hollywood and Hallyu stars will also be gracing the red carpet at SFW this year. Australian actress and SK-II ambassador Cate Blanchett and South Korean actress and L'Oreal Professionnel spokesman Yoon Eun Hye will be in attendance.
This year's revamped edition of SFW takes the place of the former Audi Fashion Festival. It also introduces a new business-focused talent development programme called Fashion Futures.
Three local labels, Ong Shunmugam, Elohim and Dzojchen, have been selected for Fashion Futures, which includes opportunities to showcase at SFW, feedback from the headline designers and inclusion in the CFDA Induction Programme.
A new Fashion Talk series will also be held alongside SFW in a tie-up with Lasalle College of the Arts. Students, industry professionals and members of the public will be able to attend talks with von Furstenburg, Panichgul and CFDA chief executive Steven Kolb.
Other local names at SFW include Exhibit, ALT by Curated Editions, and the debut of Collate The Label, a new line by it girl Velda Tan. The Harper's Bazaar Asia New Generation Fashion Award 2015 will also showcase regional design talent from Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam.
More information, including ticketing details for the fashion shows, will be available at a later date.
