As a youth, I knew life would last forever. I worried little of loss. Now age 50, I understand my life is half over and loss, in the form of letting go, has taken on a different significance.

Even with the best outlook as a glass-half-full eternal optimist sort like myself, we cannot sugar-coat the fact that our lives are overflowing with times when we must let go, relinquish, set loose a person, place or thing.
