SINGAPORE - When Mrs Abigail Ang-Storbakken first moved with her family to Dali in Yunnan province in 2011, she cried as she walked through the ancient town.

"There were no malls or cinemas. My idea of exercise used to be shopping for 10 hours straight or getting a massage," says the 43-year-old Singaporean, who used to resist going camping because she "loves her plumbing".
