WHO: Mr Mohanavelu Neethianathan, 65, is a retired senior police officer, former secretary and vice-president of the Singapore Cricket Association, and former national hockey and cricket player The bachelor has 15 nephews and nieces and 10 grandnephews and grandnieces. Though he knows the term "uncle" is used as a sign of respect, he dislikes being addressed as one by anyone other than his family members as it implies that he is old. He prefers to feel and be seen as someone who is young at heart.

Destination: Sri Lanka. I've visited it more than 10 times since I fell in love with the country on my first trip there in 1978 while on a cricket tour.
