It is not too early to start booking your vacation for the end of the year. Tour operator Trafalgar is offering early-bird discounts of up to 15 per cent off a couple for bookings made before Aug 24, and an extra 5 per cent off if they have travelled with Trafalgar before.

Groups of five to 15 people will also enjoy a 5 per cent discount a person. On selected trips, Trafalgar will help solo travellers find a same-sex roommate, or if it cannot pair you up, travellers will stay in a single room at no extra cost. Those who want a room to themselves can inquire about single supplement discounts for certain tours.

Trafalgar offers more than 30 European trips, with discounts on departures from October to May next year. For instance, there is the new seven-day Festive St Petersburg and Moscow - prices start at US$1,675 (S$2,318) a person, excluding airfare - which includes visits to the Kremlin in Moscow as well as the Tsar's Winter Palace and Hermitage Museum in St Petersburg.

Another package is the 10-day Imperial Europe tour (from US$1,750 a person), where travellers can explore the history, culture and Christmas markets of Munich, Prague, Vienna, Budapest and Salzburg.

Travellers should book early for popular trips, such as the six-day Northern Lights of Iceland tour (from US$2,350 a person).
