BHUTAN TRAVEL DEALS

From Tuesday to Oct 30, Druk Asia Bhutan Travel Tour Agency is holding the Discover Breathtaking Bhutan Travel Fair on Basement 4 of Ion Orchard.

There will be a photography exhibition, with works by National Geographic photographer Ciril Jazbec and nomadic film-maker Zahariz Khuzaimah, an exhibition of paintings by Bhutanese artist Asha Kama, live demonstrations of Bhutanese loom weaving and a showcase of Bhutanese fabric.

Visitors can take a photo in Bhutanese national clothing, try food made on-site by a Bhutanese chef and buy the country's food and handicraft. They will also be able to book tours and customised packages for Bhutan.

The country's national carrier DrukAir is offering a special promotion of $868 a person for an economy ticket, down from $1,208, during the fair. DrukAir operates three flights a week from Singapore to the town of Paro, with a transit in Kolkata, India.

Visitors also stand a chance to win a four-day, three-night, all-expenses-paid trip to Bhutan worth $8,600.

SIX SENSES TO OPEN IN NEW YORK

Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas has announced plans to open a hotel in New York City - its first property in the United States. It is slated to open in 2019.

The 137-key Six Senses New York luxury hotel will take up 10 floors in a new two-tower development called The Eleventh. It will be located on 10th Avenue - between Manhattan's High Line park and the Hudson River - in the chic Chelsea neighbourhood and is designed by award-winning architectural and design group BIG (Bjarke Ingels Group).

Rooms will start from 37 sq m and will be designed to meet Leed (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Certification standards, in keeping with Six Senses' commitment to sustainability.
