SCOOT FLIES TO GREECE

Scoot has announced a new service from Singapore to Athens, giving travellers in the region a budget- friendly way to visit the famous Acropolis of Athens or hop across the Greek islands.

The flight, which starts on June 20 next year, will be the longest flight operated by a low-cost carrier and is Scoot's first long-haul flight between Asia Pacific and Europe. The route will be served by new Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners with 329 seats, including 18 in ScootBiz, its business class.

Scoot is offering a promotion till Aug 31 for bookings for this route. One-way Economy Fly fares to and from Athens start from $288, inclusive of taxes. The ScootBiz fares start from $888.

Travellers will get a further 10 per cent off FlyBag (includes baggage allowance) and FlyBagEat (includes baggage allowance and food) fares by entering the promo code, GREEKON. The promotion runs till 11.59pm on Aug 31.

GO LOCAL WITH HOTEL JEN

To help guests stay away from tourist traps and get a more native perspective of the destination, the Hotel Jen chain, owned by Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts, has launched the Leave Boring Behind package, which taps on local residents' knowledge.

The packages - from US$80++ (S$108) - are available from now till Sept 30 and include accommodation, late check-out and daily buffet breakfast for two, and a tour, such as catching crabs and harvesting mussels in a kampung in Malaysia; riding bamboo bicycles on a tour of Intramuros, Manila's old walled city; spotting humpback whales from a catamaran in Brisbane; and exploring Beijing's historic hutongs on foot.

Using the hashtag #LeaveBoringBehind, select local residents, called "Jensetters", will also share their insights on the destination's best activities, food and art on social media.

Members of the Shangri-La Golden Circle loyalty programme will earn double award points for this package.
