SINGAPORE - Food, shopping and some magic is what brings Singaporeans to Britain, a survey by British Airways has found.
Borough Market was the top "must visit" shopping destination in London, according to the survey which polled 1,000 Singaporeans between Feb 25 and Mar 9.
Other preferred spots for shopping were designer brand outlets, Oxford Street and Portobello Market.
The survey also found that shopping is more important to Singaporean travellers than it is for Chinese and Japanese travellers.
When choosing a new destinations to visit, 68 per cent of Singaporeans chose a place for its shopping, while 67 per cent who were interested in historical landmarks.
Thirty-nine per cent of respondents said that the Harry Potter movies inspired them to visit Britain.
"The results of our survey reveal something we already suspected: Singaporeans are avid travellers who love to shop and explore new destinations," said Robert Williams, British Airways' head of Asia Pacific sales.
The Singaporeans surveyed also voted on which British personality they would love most to have sitting next to them on a flight.
Thirty-seven per cent chose British actress and model Emma Watson, who starred in the Harry Potter films.
Ex-footballer and model David Beckham came in second (32 per cent), followed by award-winning singer Adele (22 per cent).
Singaporeans were also the most well-travelled compared to respondents in other Asian countries surveyed, well ahead of the Indians, then the Chinese and Japanese.
The favourite European destinations for Singaporeans' holidays are Paris, Venice and London.
