SINGAPORE - I lived in hell between 2008 and 2010. I was juggling a high-pressure job based in the United States as the chief technology officer of a global medical technology company and a young family based in Singapore.
My family had returned to Singapore for my eldest son to start Primary 1. Every two weeks, I was either on a flight back to Singapore to be with the family, or heading back to the US corporate office. Given the extreme commutes, permanent jet lag, high levels of work stress, and extended absences from family were my constant companions. It brought me to within a razor's edge of a complete burnout.
