Tie-up between Japanese fast-fashion giant Uniqlo and Finnish design house Marimekko puts colourful prints on a limited-edition women's collection

Unexpected brand collaborations are gaining pace in the fashion industry, though they are not a new phenomenon.

In the past year, style lovers have seen everything from streetwear giant Supreme's flashy and monogram-heavy collection with French luxury label Louis Vuitton, to Italian luxury house Gucci partnering Spanish artist Coco Capitan to reimagine its logo.
