SINGAPORE - Retired football superstar David Beckham was spotted at Marina Bay Sands on Friday and Saturday evening, for what appeared to be a commercial shoot for a fashion brand.

Netizens were in a tizzy over his appearance, with many taking to social media to exclaim his presence in the form of videos and photographs.

Instagram user yxnnx shot and posted three videos of the ultimate marketing figure on Friday.

One showed him looking stylish even as he was travelling down an escalator, another was of him walking and responding to the public interest in him with a smile and a wave. Another video showed him being given instructions by film crew members and a few security personnel appeared to have formed a human cordon around him, while many members of the public can be seen trying to snap pictures of the star from a distance.

Another Instagram user, yonia, posted a picture of Beckham on Saturday. He is seen standing around the waterfront of Marina Bay Sands, looking out into the distance. In her picture caption, yonia, who was there for a photoshoot, exclaimed: "Today is my lucky day!"

It is uncertain if the 39-year-old star is still in town, although he appears to be a frequent visitor in Singapore.

He was seen here last month at the DFS Haig Club store at Changi Airport, to kick off the global launch of his own whisky label, Haig Club. The venture is a partnership between Beckham, Diageo, the world's largest alcohol company based in London, and British entrepreneur Simon Fuller.

His appearance at Changi Airport is said to have drawn a "sizeable audience", wrote The Moodie Report.

In June, he again made an appearance at Marina Bay Sands. This visit saw him conducting a football clinic with local athletes from SportCares Singapore, Special Olympics and the Asean Para Games. The football icon also took part in a charity auction, where he put up for bidding a pair of his football boots, which have his children's names, wife Victoria Beckham's initials and his signature on them.
