Whenever Mr Vincent Lim took part in running events, he had to get up before dawn, get to the starting point and jostle with other runners along the route.

However, since February last year, the 47-year-old, who works in an aerospace company, has been going for a different type of run - one in which he needs only to register for the race online, then complete it using a GPS-tracking running app or device. This means he can run anywhere, at anytime.
