In 2017, well-known rock climber Alex Honnold did the unthinkable - a rope-free ascent to El Capitan, the 900m sheer granite cliff that towers over America's Yosemite National Park.

No one had ever completed a "free solo" climb of the treacherous rock wall, in other words, climbing it alone and without any ropes or other safety gear.
