First-time mother and New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern returned to work earlier this month after six weeks of maternity leave, leaving her partner Clarke Gayford to become the main caregiver for their daughter.

Since the recent announcement that Mr Gayford is going to be a stay-at-home dad, the spotlight has been shone on men who take on this non-traditional parenting role.
