Why is my car's speedometer not working properly?

There can be many reasons for the speedometer malfunctioning.

Traditional speedometers make use of gears and wires to determine speed, while most modern vehicles use electronic speed sensors.

Some common problems include a faulty sensor, bad wiring or a dial malfunction.

The solution mostly calls for a replacement of the speed sensor or cable.
