Carve your own adventures and create your perfect experiences with the free-spirited Audi Q2

As the youngest member of Audi’s Q-family of SUVs, the Q2 is the new kid on the block, poised to stamp its mark around the urban jungle and off the beaten track.

Its muscular stance radiates with energy and conveys an air of confidence. The striking LED headlights and distinctive Singleframe grille lend the Q2 an unmistakable presence.

The unique rear C-pillar blade can be customised in a variety of colours, while the tailgate hides a luggage compartment big enough to swallow most sporting equipment and weekend shopping hauls.

Various suites of exterior S line styling packages are available for those looking to further accentuate the Q2’s personality, and lightweight aluminium alloy wheels ranging from 16- to 18-inches are available as well.

While its dimensions are certainly compact, the Q2 packs many features beneath that stylish coupe-like silhouette. This sleek profile also means the Q2 has a class-leading drag co-efficient of just 0.30.

High functionality

Step inside the Q2 and the driving position is comfortably sporty.

The Q2 offers excellent all-round visibility typical of bigger SUVs such as the Audi Q5 and Q7. The build quality, like all Audi models, is second-to-none and exudes a premium fit and finishing.

The new Audi Q2 comes standard with the 180-watt Audi sound system, fitted with 10 speakers and Bluetooth interface for seamless integration with mobile phones and audio devices.

Audiophiles will be delighted to know that a high-end, 14-speaker, 705-watt Bang & Olufsen system with 5.1 surround sound is also an option.

Apart from these, two navigation systems can be ordered — the MMI navigation plus package comes with the Audi virtual cockpit and a flat-bottomed steering wheel.

Other useful options one may specify include the panoramic glass roof, electrically opening and closing tailgate, reverse camera, Audi park assist, Audi phone box and the technologically advanced head-up display.

The Q2 is a compact SUV that is packed with safety features. An Electronic Stabilisation Program comes as standard and helps to keep the Q2 safe and planted on the road in all conditions. There are also full-sized air bags up front, at the side and a head curtain airbag.

The little ones are taken care of with ISOFIX anchorages on the outer rear seats, so that the child seats can be secured with minimal fuss.

Sporty and agile

Another high-tech feature is its 1.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine. This unit pumps out 150hp and 250Nm, enabling the Q2 to sprint from 0 to 100km/h in 8.5 seconds and eventually reach a top speed of 212km/h.

This engineering gem is not only powerful and smooth but is supplemented with COD (cylinder-on-demand) cylinder deactivation.

The COD system deactivates the second and third cylinders at loads of up to 100Nm and while coasting when engine speed is between 1,400 and 3,200rpm which enhances fuel efficiency.

When there is a need for speed, flooring the accelerator pedal reactivates the cylinders within milliseconds, enabling the engine to unleash its full potential.

First introduced in the Audi TT and S3 models, the progressive steering system provides an even more dynamic driving sensation as it varies the steering ratio according to driving inputs. This enhances the agility of the car on the road.

A lightweight yet torsionally rigid body not only enhances the Q2’s handling capabilities but also keeps noise and vibration levels low.

For those who prefer an engine with a smaller capacity, the Q2 will soon be available with a 1.0-litre turbocharged three-cylinder engine, which comes under the Category A COE. This variant pushes out 116hp and 200Nm, ensuring driving pleasure while keeping running costs low.

Raising the bar

With the Q2, Audi has offered another unique product for the discerning car buyer. It builds on the progressive designs of the Q-family, yet is distinctive enough to stand its own ground.

Coupled with a high level of functionality and flexibility, the Q2’s premium cabin ambience aims to pamper its occupants, while the advanced 1.4 TFSI engine churns out enough power and yet is delightfully fuel efficient.

Infused with uniquely trendy good looks, sporty dynamics and superb functionalities, it is easy to see how you can create the perfect experience while seeking out new adventures on the road with the Q2.
