Drinking alcohol is widely viewed as acceptable, but problematic alcohol use tends to creep up from right under our noses

Few people will dispute the view that drugs such as heroin and methamphetamine are incredibly harmful to the user and to society.

However, almost a decade ago, a paper in medical journal The Lancet by a Professor David Nutt espoused the view that alcohol is the most harmful drug of all.
