Mock at your own expense

If show creators can mock others, they should be prepared to be made fun of too

When I was a kid, a big chunk of what I loved in film and on television was horrendously racist.

Indians were demonic killers and cowboys were simply protecting themselves when they massacred entire tribes. John Wayne went to war and mowed down scores of Vietnamese and I think he was also in the Pacific, fighting those - I don't want to use the words he used to describe the enemy - but the nicest example would be "Japs".
