SINGAPORE - Stroke awareness has increased over the years, though some people still seek help late as they are unsure of the symptoms, said Dr Shekhawat Ravindra Singh, an associate consultant at the Department of Neurology at the National Neuroscience Institute.

It is imperative to get help as soon as possible as medical treatment for the most common types of strokes known as ischemic strokes should be given within a 4½-hour window.
