Though the boys from popular K-pop boyband EXO have been to Singapore at least three times, they made it to the Marina Bay Sands Skypark only during their latest trip here this weekend.

Three of the group's nine members - Suho, Chanyeol and Sehun - were in Singapore last Saturday as special guests for the finale of shoe brand Skechers' K-pop dance competition. EXO are brand ambassadors for the label.

The finale of the Skechers' Sweet Monster K-pop dance competition took place at Causeway Point and featured dance groups from Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Hong Kong.

Talking about their rooftop experience during a press conference last Saturday, group member Chanyeol, 24, says it has been something the group have been looking forward to.

"We've always wanted to visit and check out the view. We finally got to see it yesterday and it was beautiful, though we didn't manage to swim in the infinity pool."

The singer says he wants to head back to the hotel the next time he is in Singapore.

Though the three members did not specify when they plan to return, leader Suho, 26, did share that the group have started to plan their next concert tour.

"Though we just completed our third world tour two weeks ago, we have already started planning the next one. We will also release our next album really soon."

EXO debuted in 2012 and have risen to become one of the most prominent K-pop groups, with hits such as Growl (2013), Overdose (2014), Call Me Baby (2015) and Monster (2016).

The group debuted with 12 members, but have since lost three of its Chinese members, Kris, Luhan and Tao.

The first two members filed lawsuits against the group's label SM Entertainment to leave EXO in 2014. Tao did the same in 2015.

But the dramatic changes in group numbers have not affected EXO's popularity.

On this year's list of South Korea's 40 most powerful celebrities by Forbes Korea, they came in at No. 4.
