Urban farming is all the rage these days. But while most people take the well-trodden path of growing fruit, herbs and vegetables, some amateurs are experimenting with mushroom-growing.

Home-grown businesses Kin Yan Agrotech, Agrivo Mycosciences and Herb In A Cup sell grow-it-yourself mushroom kits, and the demand has been encouraging.
