Chef Er Suen Liang spent a year in Hong Kong learning cooking techniques and heirloom recipes before returning to Singapore to helm the kitchen of Mui Kee Congee, a partnership between the Les Amis Group and Hong Kong porridge concept Mui Kee.

The 33-year-old's efforts have paid off as Mui Kee Congee, which launched as a pop-up at Casa Verde in mid-2017 before moving to its current location at Shaw Centre last March, is a new entrant on the bronze winners' list of The Straits Times and Lianhe Zaobao Best Asian Restaurants Awards.
