Whisky with a touch of spice

Finishing or maturing Scotch in old American rye whiskey casks continues to gain traction in the Scotch whisky world, as seen with the release of Glenmorangie Spios.

The ninth release in the Highland Distillery's acclaimed Private Edition series is its first single-malt whisky fully matured in old American rye whiskey casks. Previous editions of the series have included Bacalta, which featured Scotch finished in sun-baked Malmsey Madeira casks, and Milsean, which featured Scotch matured in red wine casks from Portugal.
