The Macallan's Scotland distillery: Whisky magic in the hills

The Macallan elevates the distillery visit experience with its 90-minute guided tour, complete with state-of-the-art features housed in an architectural wonder

Like a buried treasure, everything at The Macallan's £140-million (S$252-million) distillery and visitor centre is housed under five undulating hills that could have come straight out of The Hobbit films.

Speaking to The Sunday Times just hours before its official opening last month, The Macallan's creative director Ken Grier says: "We want to unwrap the distillery for consumers and reveal the mysteries for them."
