Some hits, some misses from Zui Hong Lou's Chinese dishes

Zui Hong Lou has a few standout deep-fried items, but its chef needs to add bolder touches to impress

Zui Hong Lou, the erstwhile dim sum bar that was previously in Ann Siang Hill, has been resurrected in nearby Club Street. It takes over Pluck, a small bar-cum-eatery that offered its own take on Chinese dishes.

Concept-wise, Zui Hong Lou does not stray too far from Pluck. The food is still Chinese, albeit less experimental and veering more towards spicy Sichuan flavours.
