Picking at stars: Does the Michelin Guide matter?

Many chefs and foodies have awaited the launch of each new edition of the Michelin Guide Singapore since it first launched here in 2016.

The French guide on restaurants has a history that dates back to 1900 and was originally aimed at boosting tyre sales. It provided drivers information on where they could get petrol, change tyres and a listing of restaurants and hotels they could stop at.
