Rub shoulders with some of the world's best barmen, enjoy signature cocktails by Singapore's finest bartenders, visit pop-up bars or go on themed bar-hopping tours around town in March.

These are just some of the activities lined up for the inaugural Singapore Cocktail Week from March 7 to 14. Close to 30 cocktail bars here will be taking part in the eight-day drinks festival.

The participating bars include established players such as 28 Hong Kong Street, Jigger & Pony in Amoy Street, Manhattan bar at Regent Singapore hotel, The Cufflink Club in Jiak Chuan Road and Operation Dagger in Ann Siang Hill.

In addition, 10 international barmen, including American Steve Schneider of Employees Only in New York, Irish barman Dean Callan, brand ambassador for Scotch label Monkey Shoulder, and Roman Foltan of award-winning bar Artesian in London, will be in town to do guest bartending stints.

Organised by lifestyle events company Curated Events, Singapore Cocktail Week aims to establish the city as a leading cocktail destination and to showcase the growing pool of bartending talent here. Organisers hope to make it an annual affair.

Singapore Cocktail Week will see the return of the Singapore Bar Awards, started last year (2014) by Australian food and beverage veteran Tron Young. The awards honour the best bartenders, service crew and bar food in town, based on voted by Singapore-based barmen, spirirts importers, journalists and other industry folk.

Cocktail enthusiasts who visit participating bars during Cocktail Week can enjoy signature cocktails at discounted prices from $14.

Some of the bars will also host visiting bartenders. More details will be released over the next few weeks.
