1. Be mindful of purchases and do not overbuy food items, especially perishables. Plan your weekly meals, make a shopping list and stick to it - avoid impulse buying.

2. Buy the whole animal or fish and ask for the various parts to be separated into portions. Cook only what you need and store the rest in the freezer. This helps to save money as well.
