PARIS (Agence France-Presse) - Mr Raymond Berthillon, founder of the Berthillon ice cream shop on Paris's iconic Ile Saint-Louis that is considered by many to be the city's finest, has died aged 90, the store announced on Monday.
A magnet for hot and flustered tourists, Berthillon celebrated its 60th anniversary this year. It has been run by three generations of the same family since Mr Berthillon opened it at the age of 30.
It has become known around the world for its ice cream made only with natural ingredients.
"He made his ice creams only with high quality ingredients: whole milk, eggs, cream that he went to buy at dawn from the Les Halles market," the store's site said.
