SINGAPORE - Big names such as BreadTalk, Jumbo Seafood, and Ya Kun Kaya Toast have done it - opening stores and restaurants in other countries.
Increasingly though, home-grown boutique food brands are also making forays, and some unexpected names have been planting their flags in countries in the region. Among them are speciality coffee chain Jewel Coffee, modern Asian restaurant chain Blue Lotus, niche grocery store Ryan's Grocery, snack company Irvins Salted Egg and hawker stall A Noodle Story.
