Fawcett and O'Neal's son a crime suspect

LOS ANGELES • After a man was nabbed trying to rob a convenience store, the police in Los Angeles got a breakthrough in solving a recent spate of crimes.

The man matched the description of the suspect in those incidents.

He turned out to be Redmond James O'Neal, son of film stars Farrah Fawcett and Ryan O'Neal.

Now, he has been charged with attempted murder, among other charges, The Washington Post reported.

The 33-year-old allegedly stabbed one person in Venice Beach.

Three hours later, he is said to have left another person lying in a pool of blood after stabbing him.

All in, he is charged with five random attacks between May 2 and 5.

Now held in the custody of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, the suspect is the only child of Charlie's Angels star Fawcett.

He was previously convicted in 2009 for possessing a controlled substance and again in 2015 for having a firearm, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.

Fawcett reportedly willed US$4.5 million (S$6 million) to her son, who is known to have drug-addiction problems.
