CHIP BEE HOME FOR ONG SHUNMUGAM

Ong Shunmugam, which is known for its contemporary interpretations of the cheongsam, will open its first Singapore flagship store next month.

The single-storey, 1,300 sq ft unit at Chip Bee Gardens will house the label's office, atelier and retail space. Apart from enjoying bespoke services, customers can also shop for the label's ready-to-wear line at the store.

Ms Priscilla Shunmugam, the label's founder and designer, says: "No matter the digital economy, a physical retail store is still the most powerful manifestation of a brand's story, products and experience."

The five-year-old label's atelier was at Hong Leong Building in Raffles Place for four years.

Prices for the ready-to-wear Cruise 2016 collection start at $399 for a polyester-spandex top with silk crepe lining to $999 for a navy wrapped dress with kimono sleeves. For bespoke pieces, prices go up to $3,883 for a gown, depending on the design and material.

The store will open at the end of next month. The label's pieces are also available at www.ongshunmugam.com.

OIL FOR SOFT LIPS

French beauty brand Clarins has launched a collection of three lip oils that it claims will moisturise, protect and soothe lips.

The Instant Light Lip Comfort Oil has ingredients such as hazelnut oil and organic jojoba oil that the label says will protect the skin from dehydration. The oil is available in three shades - Honey, Raspberry and Red Berry - with the latter two also providing a slight tint.

The oil has a smooth balm-like texture that does not feel oily on the lips and leaves them feeling soft and supple. The product also comes with a soft sponge applicator that makes it easy to put on.

The Instant Light Lip Comfort Oil ($36) is available at all Clarins counters.

WANG FOR APPLE MUSIC CHANNEL

Some of the coolest music are found not just in clubs, but also on the fashion runway.

American designer Alexander Wang makes his debut on the new Apple Music Fashion channel.

Launched on June 6, the channel celebrates the connection between fashion and music and is a platform where fashion designers can share their favourite music via curated playlists.

There are three playlists on the channel curated by Wang, titled Chill, Hype and Vibe. The lists feature a mix of genres from hip-hop to R&B to dance and will be updated by Wang throughout the year.

In an interview with Vogue.com earlier this month, Wang said Chill is his go-to playlist "to decompress", Hype has "songs that kick up the energy" and Vibe's tunes "have high energy and also are great classics".

The Apple Music Fashion channel is accessible on iTunes with an Apple Music membership. A one-person membership starts from $9.98 a month while a family membership for up to six people costs $14.98 a month.
