PATEK PHILIPPE OPENS LARGEST STORE IN SOUTH-EAST ASIA

Luxury Swiss watch manufacturer Patek Philippe unveiled its biggest store in South-east Asia at Ion Orchard on Tuesday.

After four months of renovation, the brand has expanded its flagship store to take up more than 260 sq m, which is four times larger than the previous space. The boutique is managed by Singapore-listed watch retailer Cortina Watch.

The expansion comes at a time when the luxury industry has been hit by the weakening retail market.

In an interview with The Straits Times at the launch of the store, Mr Jerome Pernici, commercial and marketing director of Patek Philippe, who is based in Geneva, said despite the slowdown in retail, the family-owned business will continue with its investments and growth plans.

The label also has a 149 sq m store at The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands.

The new store at Ion Orchard includes a large showcase of timepieces, spacious areas with sales desks and a waiting lounge with a library of Patek Philippe books.

The expanded boutique also includes a VIP area for a more discreet shopping experience. The private room has a separate entrance which is connected directly to the Ion Orchard driveway.

Prices of Patek Philippe watches range from $15,000 to a few million dollars.

The store is located at Ion Orchard, 2 Orchard Turn, 02-03, tel: 6509-9238, open from 10.30am to 9pm daily.
