Barbie walked on the moon before Neil Armstrong and has had more than 200 other careers, paving the way for girls to dream big. Here is a look back at the icon's six decades

She may be 60 this year, but porcelain-faced Barbie remains a popular children's toy and an iconic figure, with more than 100 dolls sold every minute.

While the doll has faced controversy for setting an unrealistic body image for young girls, Barbie's origins were all about female empowerment.
