Shoemaking may sound almost like an ancient tradition in this age of fast and mass-market fashion, but the craft is enjoying a small revival here.

The Textile and Fashion Industry Training Centre - the training arm of the Textile & Fashion Federation (Taff) - saw 35 students graduate from its footwear design diploma programme last year. In 2013, there were only nine graduates.
