Slicked-back look a challenge to pull off

The American-Korean model and actress sported this look on the red carpet at the Hollywood premiere of the movie Attack On Titan in July. Though the 24- year-old usually wears her bob much shorter, her hair has grown into a mid-length style. She has slicked back her hair to highlight her strong features.

Mr Lam says: "It looks very trendy, but it is not something that everyone can pull off. The whole face is exposed. So the face shape is very important. You have to have an oblong-shaped face to wear this look."

The look is not ideal for heart-shaped or square faces as it accentuates the width of one's face. He adds that one's make-up also makes a difference as it will add glamour to the look and help to highlight the features.

To get the look, ask for a blunt long bob. Hair should be cut the same length all the way around and end just above the shoulders.

How to style the look:

1. Apply a smoothening cream to damp hair.

2. Lightly blow-dry the hair.

3. Spray serum onto hair and use a paddle brush to brush the hair back and towards the nape of the neck.

Use a smaller brush to comb back baby hair. Repeat until a slick, slightly wet look is achieved.

4. Finish with a strong-hold hairspray to keep the style in place.
