How would you describe your style?

Modern preppy with a twist of quirkiness. My clothing options are usually graphic collared shirts, printed sweaters and blazers that I wear for special events, such as weddings. I also like prints and pops of colour.

When did your interest in fashion start?

When I started working in the fashion merchandising field five years ago. My interest grew rapidly and I became more sensitive to detail and fashion trends.

Who are your favourite designers and go-to brands?

American designer Marc Jacobs because of his modern quirky vibe. His clothes are not too polished. I also like Irish designer Jonathan Anderson for his modern design aesthetic.

My go-to brands would be Swedish label Cos and Blackbarrett by British designer Neil Barrett.

I like shopping at Cos as the range is modern and minimal, while Blackbarrett offers sharp and clean graphic designs and the shirts fit the Asian male physique perfectly.

Who are your style icons?

American actor Johnny Depp. I admire him for his different looks.

What are your favourite pieces in your wardrobe?

My bermuda suits that I wear on special occasions - such as the blue checked one I bought in Britain and an olive-yellow suit (photo 1) from John Lawrence Sullivan.

Both of these styles give a casual, dapper look that is not too formal.

Others include my Marc Jacobs "American Breakfast" print jacket (photo 2) as the quirky print makes it a unique piece and my colourful fish sweater (photo 3) from Kenzo as the bright colours are eye- catching.

I also like my Junya Watanabe pants (photo 4) with the detachable pocket pouch.

Lastly, my Dr Martens multi- coloured loafers (photo 5) I bought in Tokyo. It can be quite difficult to match, but I try my best to.

Do you have any weaknesses when it comes to shopping?

I tend to buy items I like without looking at the price tag.

What is your favourite splurge piece?

A Paul Smith leather zipper jacket (photo 6). Although I bought it during a sale at $600, the discounted price was still relatively high.

I like it because of the sharktooth print on the lining. I also have a backpack in the same print.

Is there a purchase you have regretted?

I would not say regret, but if I buy something on impulse and feel it does not suit me after, I will gladly pass it on to someone who likes the item more than I do.

What is your most recent fashion purchase?

The Blackbarrett shirt (photo 7). I love the fit and colour block detail.

What is the best shopping or style advice you live by?

Whenever you visit a store, pick a few adventurous colours or prints and try them on.

It is good to constantly fine-tune your style and be open to change.
