I am petite. How do I style relaxed-fit jeans to flatter my body type?

Boyfriend and mum jeans have tried to topple the perennial favourite skinny jeans without much success for the past four years, but it looks like this may finally be the time to give the figure-hugging style a break.

The new jean silhouette is an updated version of the boyfriend jeans - it sits high on the waist and has a relaxed fit throughout, but it is not as baggy.

Women who are used to wearing curve-enhancing jeans may find this style unflattering, but it can look sexy and feminine with the right styling.

Freelance stylist Grace Lim, 24, offers some suggestions for petite women.

"They can wear it with a cute cropped T-shirt or choose relaxed- fit jeans that are high-waisted. They can also dress up their outfit by wearing a coat or vest over it and put on a pair of heels."

To strike a balance between being tomboy and feminine, wear the jeans with a lacy camisole and blazer. You can also swop heels and wedges for edgy black boots.

Roll up the hems of your jeans just once - they should not be rolled up too high.

For the most flattering fit, find a pair of jeans that fits comfortably around your hip and bum area. Only the fit around your legs should be relaxed.
