SINGAPORE - When she moved to Singapore four years ago, Kenya-born Chetna Bhatt received many curious stares and innocent questions about her ethnicity, appearance and accent.

When the 38-year-old told these people she was from Africa, they brought up talk of animals and marathon runners. Her encounters here made her realise how little people knew of her home country.
