Adele's fresh new look

The British singer-songwriter looks spiffy in her new music video Hello

Adele's new music video Hello was not the only thing the British singer and songwriter debuted last Friday - she also unveiled a new look.

The singer has chopped off her long locks that she used to wear in a high bun or bouffant and gone for a trendy, shoulder-length bob.

Her previously heavy eye make- up and bright red lips have been replaced by a more natural look.

The 27-year old, who has a three- year old son with boyfriend, businessman Simon Konecki, looked a lot slimmer in the video, as well as on the cover for her soon-to-be- released album, 25.

It is slated for a Nov 20 release and is highly anticipated, given that her last album, 21, was released in 2011.

She took a three-year hiatus to look after her son after the success of the James Bond movie theme song Skyfall in 2012, which she performed.

Stylists whom Life spoke to give her new look the thumbs-up.

Personal stylist Lionnel Lim, who declines to reveal his age, says: "Adele has always been beautiful, especially without make-up. She looks like a radiant younger lady now and definitely less frumpy."

He adds that she looks "healthily proportioned, unlike many reality TV stars".

Stylist Steven Kong, 41, also likes her natural and effortless look.

"I quite fancy her dropping the retro make-up and big curls, but if I were to style her, I would probably advise her to go for black hair.

"I feel that with her new figure and with such a beautiful face, black hair will make her look even more sophisticated."

Freelance hair and make-up artist, Marie Soh, 25, describes Adele's new make-up style as "more polished and defined", with a focus on her eyebrows and eyeliner.

"Her darkened defined brows give more shape and structure to her face, although she has stuck with her classic winged liner. With less eyeshadow, her look is cleaner as well."

On what Adele might have used to achieve this new look, Ms Soh points to a "really good foundation for that flawless finish, a dark brown creamy brow formula to sculpt her brows, an ultra black liquid eyeliner, and contouring powder for her cheekbones and nose".

She might also have used false eyelashes.

"For her hair, it look likes she has put in some highlights to frame her face. A good hair blowout also does wonders for volume and gives soft- looking hair that seems effortless."
