It is not every day that a Singapore destination gets named a Unesco World Heritage Site, but that is not the only reason to visit the Botanic Gardens during the Jubilee Weekend.
The park will come alive with a carnival held at the Bandstand & Orchid Plaza from Aug 7 to 9. There will be booths selling nostalgia snacks such as kacang puteh and old- school biscuits, as well as family activities such as botanical- themed batik painting and calligraphy demonstrations.
Another reason to slap on some sunscreen and take the entire family down? Free music performances on Aug 7 and 8 by the T'ang Quartet, The Sam Willows and the Singapore Lyric Opera.
Visitors are advised to take public transport to the gardens during the jubilee weekend.
