NEW YORK (AFP) - A day after a telethon raised US$44 million (S$59.4 million), a Sept 22 benefit concert has been announced.

It will feature performers led by Willie Nelson and Paul Simon.

Proceeds will go to the Rebuild Texas Fund which will support housing, healthcare and other needs in the wake of Harvey's destruction.

Other performers include country A-listers Bonnie Raitt and Lyle Lovett, Texas-born soul singer Leon Bridges and folk-rock great James Taylor.

On Tuesday, a one-hour telethon broadcast on all United States networks raised money for victims of Harvey as well as Irma.
