Hong Kong - Singer William So and fashion executive Anita Fung tied the knot at a wedding more star-packed than an awards show on Tuesday, eight years after they met at singer Eason Chan's nuptials, said Apple Daily.

It is the second marriage for So, whose first wife, Singaporean former hotel executive Jane Foong, split up with him in 2003.

In 2006, he asked for the number of Fung, the general manager of fashion house Alexander McQueen's Asia-Pacific operations, immediately after they met at Chan's wedding banquet, said the report. He wooed her by telephone from China, where he was filming a television show, and she accepted him, although he said he did not want marriage.

Eight years and a change of heart later, So, 47, and Fung, 38, exchanged rings at the InterContinental Hotel Hong Kong, with Chan and his wife, fashion entrepreneur Hilary Tsui, as their witnesses, said the report.

In the morning, So had picked up his bride at the hotel, with help from his 14 groomsmen including singers Chan, Andy Hui, Edmond Leung, Dicky Cheung, lyricist Wyman Wong and pop trio Grasshopper.

Tsui was one of the bride's gatekeepers, who made the groom wear a blindfold that said: "I am my wife's slave." The groomsmen became a walking signboard on which the groom wrote "Anita I Love You" and drew a heart, a 14-character message spread over 14 foreheads.

He knelt and read out a declaration of love, which was strung together from his songs including A Man Shouldn't Let A Woman Cry. Finally, he offered the gatekeepers a blank cheque, in response to their exorbitant request for one Birkin bag each.

Pop stars such as Sammi Cheng, Joey Yung, Vivian Chow, Miriam Yeung, Jacky Cheung and Nicholas Tse were among the wedding guests, said Ming Pao Daily News. Tse smiled but did not reply when he was asked why he had not brought his girlfriend, singer Faye Wong, as his plus-one.
